Nicole Atkins and the Sea's album Party's Over is available via the band's Myspace page. Nicole Atkins has a quite beautiful voice, listen to Neptune City below and see if you agree. Apparently she has been described as 'Roy Orbison as a chick fronting a band of elves'.  I don't agree... do you?

I fell in love with this band as soon as I heard their music, for me Soft is one of the hot new acts of 2005. The good news is that they have released their debut EP, simply titled The Soft EP, this disc contains five tracks including the new single Higher and one of my top ten tracks of this year Droppin', which has been on my mp3 player ever since I heard it. Soft's shimmering, swirling sound is certainly infectious and instantly recognisable. So here, once again, is that outstanding tune Droppin'.

The Brunettes are Heather Mansfield and Jonathan Bree and they produce cute retro-sounding pop songs that I reckon are quite wonderful. Their latest EP When Ice Met Cream is available from Lil' Chief Records and they will have a new album out sometime in 2006. In the meantime they will be touring down under in January. This is a track from their 2004 album Mars Loves Venus, and you can check out more sample tunes at their Myspace page.

I purchased Hoboken's album Crazy Glue a while back, which I consider a real treat, and now I'm pleaed to announce that they have a brand new single out in January. Entitled Beauty Queen, this is typical Hoboken, electronic sounds and the distinctive vocals of Jonathan Carr, another excellent production. You can view the sampler video at their site here. The band have just finished a tour supporting the Human League, they were in my town and I missed them! To whet your appetite here's the opening track to Crazy Glue, entitled, erm... Crazy Glue.
